To kill a mockingbird takes you thru a day in the life of ,Scout finch. The story is based in maycomb Alabama during the 1930s. To start off Maycomb is a small town, where everyone knows everyone all around. It's more of a country town than a city, but it has its perks. At that time everyone was extremely racist. Scout the main character, her father was defending a black man for a crime that he did not commit, But was still accused. A white person's word was more valuable to the town then a black person's word. its showed how scout saw her town from the same perspective than everyone else but then saw her town way more differently than what everyone sees. Scout Finch starts of at the age of 5 . She is telling a story of events that led to her brother breaking his arm. Jem is 4 years older than Scout. He is always very protective of scout and would do anything for her if needed. Jem and scout never discriminated the blacks from the white. They were always taught to never judge someone by their color, their father Atticus finch would always say that. Atticus was defending a black man from a crime that he did not commit Tom was a hard working man with one available hand to use. But had to fight a accusation that was false. Atticus the “one shot” finch was a hero to jem and scout and most of the black community in maycomb. He was a brave man who served as lawyer to Tom robinson in the case. Atticus was well known in maycomb for coming from a family of rich people which during that time period was a big deal. Although many things in maycomb seemed unfair to the blacks he tried as best as he could to be the best role model for his kids. Atticus always tried to do the right thing not taking in account his skin color. The mysterious Boo radley was always seen as a ‘ghost’ who scared people at night. No one really knew much about him because Mr. Arthur had kept him locked in his house most of his childhood. Scout and Jem always wondered if Boo was scary as people said he was, but they lived to see the truth. No one knew really knew his personality, but for cause of events boo cared alot for scout and jem, even if they never met each other. Boo radley may be portrayed as a 30 year old physically but Scout sees his teenager personality in his eyes. To kill a mockingbird, shows you prejudice and racism during the 1930s. Even though this was a raw era where people were discriminated and not treated like humans do to their skin color, To kill a mockingbird shows you it by the perspective of a young girl who has more knowledge than any other in Maycomb.
